TCF (Test de Connaissance du Français)
Test your level in French as a general language with the TCF!
Valid for 2 years, this test provides a snapshot of your level of French.
Operated by France Education International (FEI is an agency of the French Ministry of National Education, Higher Education and Research),
the TCF assesses the general French language skills of non-native speakers.
The TCF is recognized in France by:
- The Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation,
- The Department of Integration and Access to Nationality under the aegis of the Ministry of the Interior,
- The Ministry of Culture,
- The Quebec Ministry of Immigration, Francisation, and Integration (MIFI or IRN),
- University authorities,
- Language training centers,
- The professional world.
There are four variants of the TCF, each with its own distinct tests:

You can't fail the TCF, because you get an assessment of your level: all candidates receive a certificate of results that places them on one of the six levels (from A1 to C2) of the skills scale defined by the Council of Europe (Common European Framework of Reference).
